Reiz Without Borders: Paulius' Journey of Adventures

For Reiz's PHP Developer Paulius Lėveris, adventure isn't just about thrill-seeking - it's about discovering new perspectives, meeting new people, and pushing past what seems possible. Each experience is a journey into the unknown and that's exactly what draws him in. In this article, we invite Paulius to share about his exciting activities through out the years.

"I've always been curious about things that push me out of my comfort zone and challenge me both physically and mentally," he says. That curiosity led him to his first adventure 4 years ago - skydiving - a moment of pure adrenaline, freedom, and presence. "The feeling of freefall is impossible to describe unless you've done it yourself. After landing, I felt really refresh-minded and just happy that I did it."

RIDING IN SYNC

Cycling is a particular favourite of Paulius'. Due to his visual disability, he has naturally gravitated towards tandem bikes, finding joy in the teamwork and shared experience it brings. "Communication is everything. You need to trust your partner and understand each other's movements - when to slow down, when to push, how to adjust to different terrains," he explains.

One of his most unforgettable cycling adventures was a week-long tandem camp in Germany, where he rode with people from all over the world. "Every day was a new experience - new roads, new people, and new lessons. It was a journey filled with fun, friendships, and opportunities."

WALKING THROUGH HISTORY

While cycling brings connection, long-distance walking offers something different - solitude, reflection, and a deep appreciation for the path ahead. That's what drew him to the Camino Lituano, a network of historical trails weaving through Lithuania.

"Each route isn't just a journey through a place, but through your own thoughts," Paulius says. "After a week of working at a computer, it's amazing to just disconnect and walk 40 kilometres over a weekend. Such an incredible opportunity to rest before next week!"

Somewhere between the forests, villages, and old town paths, he finds a reset button - a moment to reflect on what he has achieved and what comes next.

LESSONS THAT GO BEYOND ADVENTURE

For Paulius, these experiences don't just shape his weekends - they shape the way he approaches life. The patience of a long hike, the adaptability of cycling with a new partner, and the problem-solving of extreme sports all feed into his work as a developer. "Whether it's debugging code or facing an unfamiliar trail, I think I've learned to break challenges into small, manageable pieces and trust the process," he reflects.

When asked what he'd say to someone unsure about stepping into the unknown, Paulius' answer is simple:

"Start small, but start. You don't have to jump out of a plane tomorrow, but even a short hike or a local cycling route can open up a new part of yourself. The hardest part is taking that first step. And once you do, you'll probably wonder why you waited so long."

And his next step? Paulius is still deciding. “Maybe Lapland? I’d love to visit a place I haven’t been before.”
