Before becoming a Scrum Master, Lukas pursued a degree in civil engineering, where he honed his analytical and problem-solving skills. He balanced his studies with a role as a system engineer, gaining valuable experience in managing complex projects and technical systems. Although Lukas gained his degree in civil engineering, he found himself glancing at other industries. "I wanted a change and saw that the IT sector was becoming more and more promising in the Lithuanian job market. It was attracting not only people with IT knowledge but also those eager to learn and explore new opportunities," Lukas elaborates.
After deciding to change his career path, Lukas started searching for his fit in the IT sector. While doing research, the position of a Scrum Master caught his eye. Knowing that he'll have to adapt his current skillset and complete additional courses, Lukas found Reiz Academy's Scrum Master programme, which provided an educational and practical learning experience, designed to apply theory through hands-on simulations. There, Lukas explored the Scrum Master role, aiming to understand and navigate the challenges that come with it. Lukas' connection with Reiz did not end when he finished Reiz Academy. He was offered an internship and after successfully completing it, Lukas demonstrated his qualifications and secured the position as a Scrum Master at Reiz.
Despite acquiring all the necessary skills, Lukas still had to adjust to his role as a Scrum Master. "Transitioning to a completely new field meant facing unfamiliar concepts and challenges every day, each requiring careful attention and solutions," he explains. Adapting may have been harder, but Lukas had Reiz's help on his side. As Lukas remembers, he was provided with a mentor and ensured a supportive team environment where he felt safe to ask questions, learn, and grow.
Lukas believes his background in civil and system engineering plays a significant role in his position as a Scrum Master. He notes that the experience of handling stressful situations and maintaining effective communication has proven invaluable in addressing the challenges he faces in his current role. Leveraging these acquired skills, Lukas adeptly guides team discussions and resolves conflicts, ensuring seamless project management within an agile framework.

"I enjoy the sense of teamwork, the pursuit of common goals, close collaboration with colleagues, and the opportunity to support and assist them," he shares when asked if he's happy with his decision.
