The moment Gabija decided to embark on her adventure and change the scenery was “on a rainy evening in Lithuania” she reflects. "I work fully remotely, so I can fulfill my childhood dream and move to sunny Australia and work from there! So that’s what I did." This bold decision reflects the evolving landscape of work, where flexibility and remote opportunities allows individuals to pursue personal aspirations without compromising their careers.
A Day in the Life
Since moving, Gabija's workdays have taken on a new rhythm, blending professional responsibilities with the exploration of her new surroundings. Despite the time difference, Gabija aligns her schedule with her team in Lithuania to ensure seamless communication and collaboration, so that means she works during the late hours. "I am a night owl, so I prefer to work during evenings, additionally many cafés and other attractions closes pretty early here, in Australia, so I don’t feel like I miss out a lot by working during these unconventional hours," she notes. Mornings are reserved for indulging in the beauty of the Gold Coast, where she now lives, creating a great balance between work and leisure.
Essential Tools for Success
Like any digital nomad, Gabija relies on a toolkit tailored to her remote lifestyle. Her essentials include her laptop, the primary conduit for her work, and regular sync-ups with her colleague Agne, which always lifts up her mood and during those meetings, Gabija feels closer to home. And, of course, coffee—whether it's a morning pick-me-up or an evening companion, it's a staple that fuels her productivity wherever she goes.
Future Horizons:
Looking ahead, Gabija envisions her experiences of living and working remotely shaping her career trajectory and life choices. With her visa set to expire in two years, she plans to return to Lithuania, but does not promise on staying there for long. Because of her youthful ambitions of exploring new destinations or embarking on a global adventure, she feels the freedom of working from whatever place she wants: “I love the feeling of freedom by having a job in such an amazing and understanding company. I am trully blessed to be a Reizer!”
