We conducted an interview with Darko because of his impressiveness which enabled him to bring a unique perspective and skillset to our team. He is passionate about driving innovation and leveraging technology to help Reiz achieve his goals.
When we asked him what inspired him to become a Reizer in Project Coordination and Language Evaluator, he said, "By vocation, I am an English Teacher. I obtained my MA degree in English philology in 2013 and ever since I have been working by using the English language daily. I saw the job post that Reiz Tech published for the English Language Evaluator role, and this was my next step – diving into the IT world. Currently, I am working as a Project Coordinator while also holding the introductory calls for candidates where I introduce the company’s values and learn more about the candidate’s personality and professional background.”
He believes that for us to evaluate and assess proficiency in work, "there are several components of each language: phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics as the initial ones. As we need constant and smooth communication between team members, we focus on the listening and speaking aspects of each language – coherence, cohesion, grammar, and vocabulary knowledge, as well as smoothness of speaking and pronunciation as the core requirements among them.”
He communicates language evaluation results to stakeholders through, “a report which includes details about the candidate’s English level according to the CEFR scale, such as grammar and vocabulary knowledge, smoothness of speaking, accent, and elaboration on the given topics. The report also gives insight into the candidate’s soft skills which also play a big part when it comes to adapting to Reiz Tech’s positive work culture. This report helps all stakeholders to be informed timely about the candidate’s application status.”
He always stays up to date with changes or developments. He added, "The lexical change process involves the borrowing of words from different languages. As we are a multicultural international company with employees located on different continents across the globe, we constantly learn from each other’s experiences and ways of verbally expressing ourselves. The beauty of it is that it represents a never-ending story of mutual growth in both vocabulary and empathy.”
Lastly, the advice that would be given to someone interested in pursuing a career in language evaluation and project coordination is, "first of all, you have to be an empath and care for people. Next, you must enjoy talking to them. Last, but equally important as the prior ones, you must be fair-minded. Each candidate deserves an equal opportunity to prove themselves on their career path.”
We are incredibly fortunate to have Darko as a part of our team and are excited to see what he will accomplish next. We look forward to working with him on future projects and seeing the positive impact he will continue to have on our team and the clients we serve.
